You are a Superstar

Hello again. Hope you are having a wonderful day. I attended my Grandson's graduation day from pre-primary to grade one on Wednesday. It was so sweet and I could not believe how emotional I felt. Anyway I received a pack of his official photos and combined them with some pics that we took on the day to create a LO.

I used a sketch from Cheri over at Lets Scrap. It is the perfect sketch because there is a giant pocket to store all the memorabilia from the day. Inside the pocket I put the invitation to the graduation and Grade one orientation, the programme from the graduation, his report card and a letter I wrote him telling him how proud I am of him.

The journalling is the remark that his teacher wrote on his report card.

Cardstock: Colormates
Patterned paper: Breezy designs
Stickers: 7 Gypsies and Me & My Big Ideas
Rub ons: Color Rubz by Scrap Works
Punch: Martha Stewart

Enjoy the rest of your day. Thanks for looking!

Precious - Sassy Lil' Sketch 28th November

I wasn't sure if I would get this one done today, so I get to do two posts......makes up for the times when I go through three or four days with nothing to post. This is the new sketch at Sassy Lil' Sketches.

The photos I used are the cutest pics. My niece Claire's daughter and my nephew Kyran's daughter look like two little old women, discussing their tired feet and then grabbing their handbags when the bus arrives. I just love the photos!

Don't you think they are just soooo cute.

Pattern papers - Cosmo Cricket Pixielicious Range.
Cardstock - Bazill.
Rub ons - Breezy Designs
Flower Stamp - Studio G

Go on over and visit Sassy Lil' Sketches . Check out the cool LO's.

Thanks for looking. If you have visited please leave a comment, so that I can visit your blog.

Flower Girl

The new Sassy Lil' Sketches sketch is already out and I am only completing my LO for the last one now, and I did not even have Thanksgiving in between.

Here is what the sketch looked like -

I really loved the thought of all the squares of paper. Having finished my LO now, I am not that sure whether I am 100% happy ~ but I guess that you can't love everything you do. Sometimes your page just won't turn out the way you imagine it in your head.

Here is what I did -

Why not go over to Sassy Lil' Sketches and check out what all the other LO's look like. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

If you have visited, please leave a comment so that I know you have been here! Thanks for Looking.

My Challege at Lets Scrap

This is my challenge over at Lets Scrap. I would love for you to go over and have a go at using a Lets Scrap sketch and making your own flowers.
Hi guys. My turn to set a challenge this week. At the moment I have a fascination for homemade flowers.
So, I want you to do a LO using a LS sketch and at least one homemade flower. It does not have to be an intricate flower ~ you can cut a flower out of your patterned paper, use your cricut, slice machine, stencil or anything else you have as long as you have at least one homemade flower on your LO.
To give you a little inspiration I am listing a few really cool tutorials for flowers that are a bit more challenging ~ but good fun to try, if you have the time.
Hope you have loads of fun being creative with flowers!
Tag your LO challenge78 no spaces, don’t forget to tell us what sketch you used, and load it in the gallery before midnight on Friday 3rd December, 2010.
I have put together a Proudly South African RAK for the randomly drawn winner.
Here is my LO inspired by Wendy G and using sketch 9-6-10.

Don't you think Meegan is an absolute little darling? We visited my niece Claire and her family recently and Meegan wanted me to photograph her "modelling". Too cute!!!

Thanks for Looking. Please leave a comment if you have visited. I would love to visit your blog in return!

Scrap Whispers Challenge

I loved the latest challenge over at Scrap Whispers. Challenge number 83 had to be a summary. I had a photo of my DGS on his fifth birthday. I also had cool photos of him on his sixth birthday in August this year. I did an interview with him on his birthday and so used that as my summary. This is what the journalling reads:

  • Q: Favourite food                                                    A: Cucumber and watermelon
  • Q: Favourite movie                                                  A: Big Green

  • Q: Best weekend activity                                          A: Football and baseball
  • Q: Favourite sport                                                    A: Football
  • Q: What do you want to be when you grow up         A: Astronaut
  • Q: Favourite thing about your sister                            A: Her hugs and kisses
  • Q: Favourite TV show                                             A: Sponge Bob Square Pants
  • Q: favourite thing to do at Home                              A: Spend time with my mom and dad
I enjoyed doing this LO.

New Sketch Reveal at Lets Scrap

Hi from a very thundery Johannesburg. Knew it was going to come pouring down today because it has been hot and muggy all day.

Today the sketch over at Lets Scrap is so cool. I loved this sketch. Have a look and see what you think?

I decided to create a collage with my photos for the RHS page so that I could fit more photos on the LO. My photos were taken in Lydenburg when we went to visit Claire and Morne (my niece and her DH). They took us to this really cute place called Hops Hollow. Hops Hollow's claim to fame is that it is the highest (altitude wise) brewery in Africa. How cool is that!!!

It was a fun place to visit and the fact that it was misty and raining up in the mountains made the atmosphere amazing.

Go on over to Lets Scrap and check out what the other DT members have come up with.

Enjoy the rest of Wednesday. Please leave me a comment if you have visited as I would love to visit your blog as well.

Luv U Dad

Hi Again! I had such fun doing this LO for Jennifer's challenge at Lets Scrap. Recipe was, and I used
  • something old - brad from my stash
  • something new - made the best dad embellies
  • something borrowed - Kerry's corner punch
  • something blue - paper.
The photos were taken on Sunday when we went to visit Warrick and Denise. Warrick has been so ill and he was relaxing under the tree on a blanket. Claudia and Dorian thought it would be fun to jump on him.

It was so sweet because they would not say "cheese" they were saying "love you dad" instead.

Paper: American Crafts - Brights Bundle
DCWV - Doodle Rub Ons
Flowers - Upikit Rub Ons
Photo Corners - Fab Scraps Corner Punch
Best Dad Embellies - Handmade
Title and Sun - Cut out with Slice Machine

Have a happy day and if you visit, please leave me a comment. Would love to repay the compliment and visit you in return.

Sassy Lil' Card Sketch.

Today it feels like winter again. We have gone from 86 deg F last week this time to 60 deg F today. It's crazy I tell you. I am real glad because I function way better when it is cooler!!! This week Sassy Lil' Sketches has a card sketch. I am determined to get better at creating cards and the only way to do that is to practice. This is the sketch that Cherie provided.

My card is very basic, but hey I tried!!!

Not too bad for a beginner. I do dream of the day that my cards will look as good as all the others do. I am dying to try the fancy stamping and coloring stuff, but I need to build up a whole lot of courage before I do that. I have bought all the "stuff" now I just need to wake up feeling brave....Heehee.

Until next time ~ take care. Please leave a comment if you visit, that way I can return the compliment and visit your blog. Thanks for looking!!

It's Wednesday ~ Time for a new sketch from Let's Scrap

Hello from a thundery Johannesburg. It's the third Wednesday of November (already) and that means we have a card sketch at Lets Scrap. This week Kimmy really threw us a curved ball and based her sketch on a quilting block. I am amazed at how everybody added their own twist to this card. Stop off at Lets Scrap and take a look at what the DT came up with.

All those who know me will understand that I really struggle with cards and so I found this one particularly challenging. Anyway the finished product was not too bad.
The paper I used is My Mind's Eye ~ Quite Contrary range. Stitching is DCWV rub ons. The flower was cut using a slice machine and the top layer covered with diamond glaze.

Thanks for looking. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Clown Around

I am teaching my six year old grandson how to do a blog post. He is sitting next to me asking all the questions under the sun. Maybe I should let him have his own blog. JUST imagine. He is already telling me his school holidays are going to be too long. Wonder what it is going to be like by the middle of January.

I went over to Sketchabilities via a blog that I visited and I came across their new sketch. Its really cool and I had a lot of fun doing my LO. Here is the sketch.

Dorian (my grandson) is so tired of the camera and so I very seldom manage to take good pics of him. He just clowns around and pulls funny faces. I have some Sassafras paper which was perfect for the pics I had.

This is the LO that I did.

Everything on the LO is from the Applejack Sassafras range except for the bracket. I cut that out of a piece of Dream Street Paper.

Thanks for looking. I would love for you to leave a comment, that way I could visit your blog in return. happy day!

Fun Color Challenge

Another Monday arrives as the time seems to be flying by. We will be on our holiday this time next month and there is so much still to do before we go. Thank goodness we have woken to cooler weather this morning. It has been really hot the last few days, so I have loads of energy today!!!

The DT challenge over at Lets Scrap this week was a whole lot of fun. Kristin set a color challenge and this was the palette that we had to use.

I have not done this type of challenge before and so it was great fun. Kristin wanted us to use at least three of the colors (think she was being kind).

The photo I used is Meegan with the new puppy, Bella tied safely into the pram being taken for a walk. Gotta love it!!!

Don't you think that is the sweetest photo?

That is it for the time being. Have a happy and safe week. We have an exciting week ahead because our sweet Pekingese Gabriella is about to produce her puppies. Will definitely share some pics when they arrive.

Thanks for visiting. Please leave a comment if you feel so inclined. I would love to visit your blog!!!

A NEW SKETCH and I WON

It's Wednesday which means it is sketch day over at Lets Scrap . It is really weird not to be waiting for the sketch to be published because you have already done your LO. I think it is going to take me a while to get used to this whole DT thing. I am having fun though and the friends that I have made makes the weirdness worthwhile.  The prize this week is sponsored by Darkroom Door and this is what you could win in the random drawing.

Pretty awesome hey. So here is the sketch - post your creation in the gallery at Lets Scrap , and who knows - next week your name could be the one drawn.

Here is my take on the sketch. We took Claudia to a picnic and all she wanted to do was see a duck. We knew there was a pond somewhere within the gardens and so set off to find it. It was a long walk but she kept going. We eventually found the pond and Guess What!!!! There was one duck. Clauds was so happy and so were we. We did not have to look any further.

Right that's the sketch part. The I WON part is that I was chosen as one of the winners for October over at Sassy Lil' Sketches . This is the LO that was chosen as a winner.

Thanks for that guys. I appreciate it.
Well that is it for today. Thanks for looking and if you feel so inclined please leave me a comment. This means that I can then return the compliment and visit your blog.

A New Sketch at Sassy Lil' Sketches

Well a new week is upon us again. Another week closer to our holidays. Just desperate for a good summer rainfall, we certainly haven't had normal summer weather so far this year. Yesterday was the first sketch reveal for Sassy Lil' Sketches for November. I really liked the sketch and had time today to complete a LO using the sketch.

We went out on Friday night to visit Kerry's  friend's parents. Kerry and Sam have been friends since junior school and I managed to take a few pics of them. Here is my LO. The main photo is Kerri - Sam's sister, then Sam and then my Kerry. A good looking bunch of girls, me thinks!!!

That is part of what I did today. Unfortunately, I can't show you the other LO That I completed because it is for my challenge over at Lets Scrap on November 26th. I promise you a fun challenge, so don't forget to head on over to Lets Scrap and see what the DT are up to and have a go at one of Cheri's sketches.

That's it for Monday. Enjoy the rest of your day. Please leave a comment for me if you visit, as I would love to return the compliment and visit your blog.

A Cool Challenge and a Sketch.

The November sketch over at Brittannahlee Stamp and Scrap is a really cool one page sketch. I had two beautiful photos of Denise and Claudia that I wanted to scrap. The only problem ~ what paper to use. I am trying  really hard to do these challenges without buying new paper and embellies because I have so much in my stash. Anyway as it happened the paper that fitted perfectly was again the bright colored papers that I used for the challenge over at Scrap Whispers . So I have used the same paper collection twice this week!!! After that long story here is the LO.

Some close ups

The second LO I have to show you is for Debby's challenge at Lets Scrap. Debby challenged us to make use of our alphabet stickers that we have left over. So mixed up or cutting letters from other letters. My title is "The Owl House" and I used an upside down "M" as I didn't have a "W" and the stickers are from different sets.

The Owl House in Nieu Bethesda is one of the eeriest places that I have visited. So if you ever find yourself in the Great Karoo turn off the main road and go and pay it a visit.

That's it for this week. Hope the new week is kind to you. Please leave a comment if you have visited. That way I can return the compliment and visit your blog!

As Long as it is Bright.

This weeks challenge over at Scrap Whispers was to create a LO using only bright colors. I love this idea because I generally seem to use bright colors. I had been given a few photos of Dorian and Claudia on the beach in August. There were not too many photos and so it was the perfect opportunity to use them to do a one page summer LO. I have these lovely bright colored papers from American Crafts and so they were perfect for the layout.

Enjoy the rest of your day ~ mine has been a real lazy day!
Until I have more to share be safe! Please leave me a comment if you visit, as I would love to visit your blog in return!! Thanks for looking.

Brown Eyed Girl

Pat's challenge at Lets Scrap this week was as easy as 1-2-3. We had to create a layout using at least one patterned paper, at least two embellishments and at least three photos. The only other prerequisite was that we had to use a Lets Scrap sketch. I had this paper from Basic Grey that I wanted to use and so I changed my photos to sepia. I also made the flower myself. I am loving hand made flowers at the moment. Here is the LO.

Isn't she gorgeous? I do realise that that is a biased granny's opinion but what the heck. Anyway until I have some more creations to share, enjoy the rest of your day. Please leave a comment if you visit so that I know you have been around. Thanks for looking.

New Design Team Reveal

At last the new design team LO's have been revealed over at Lets Scrap . I have been so anxious to share my LO with you. As usual Cheri's sketch was lovely to work with.

We only had to create a LO using the LHS page for Design Team entries. Once DT was announced we could add the second page if we wanted to. My LO did not lend itself to another page and so I left it as a one page LO.

Well TA DA here it is!!!!

Loved the sketch and decided to scrap "ME" for a change. The flowers are all hand made (my new favourite thing to do). I am looking forward to my term on the DT at Lets Scrap . Why not stop over there and see what the rest of the new DT came up with. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Thanks for looking
