A GOOD WAY TO START THE NEW WEEK.

I had a nice surprise this afternoon when I got home from work. My LO with the photo of Allyssa wearing the white hat was chosen as the PICK OF THE WEEK at Colorful Creations. I must say that it would be very hard for anyone to resist that gorgeous face ~ so I need to say thanks to the little cutey pie!

I loved the Julie Bonner sketch at Lets Scrap and so decided to use it for our picnic page. Used some nice bright, summery feeling paper and punched loads of little flowers. Made my photos into a collage which meant that I could get a lot more photos onto the page. I did enjoy doing this page.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Have a good week!!!!

Chilling After a lovely Long Weekend

What a lazy Sunday. I have had a lovely weekend. Visited friends on Friday (it was a public holiday in S.A.) and then went out for a picnic on Saturday. We went to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. They are beautiful and well worth a visit. Anyway, lets have a look at some of the layouts that I have been busy creating over the last few days.

This first LO I'm posting today is the latest sketch from Cheri at Lets Scrap. We went away for a few days to Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. We sat for ages watching this little family of monkeys playing near our cottage patio. They were quite sweet, but also really naughty. They darted into the cottage next door and stole all their fruit.

This layout was done using the Tackle Me Tuesday sketch at Colorful Creations. I used the same photograph twice on the Layout, the first one is at normal settings and the second one has been enhanced. I think the layout is really pretty. Dorian and his little friend from school, at his birthday party.

This month we had a Julie Bonner sketch to do over at Lets Scrap. The prize is a whole load of Jillibean Goodies. I did a Lay Out called Simon Says. The photos were taken before Dorian's birthday party. They are so cute because Claudia is copying everything that Dorian is doing.

Don't you think this is just the sweetest little face. This is my nephew Kyran's little daughter Allyssa. LO was done for a challenge over at Colorful Creations. Only girls allowed and 90% of embellishments had to be flowers. Had a lot of fun doing this one.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and have a blessed week.

WHAT AN UPSIDE DOWN WEEK!!

After trying unsuccessfully for a while to find employment I had kind of given up! I was told "you are too old", "too much experience for this position" and a whole range of other excuses. The harsh reality is that there are so many people who are unemployed that for every vacancy they probably receive three or four hundred cv's and so it is just difficult to find anything. Well that is until I received a phone call from my friend on Wednesday. She said "would you like to do  a temp assignment in Wadeville?" I said yes and started work on Thursday!! It is only temporary, but it gives me a start back in the job market after a five year period of no work! How awesome is that.

Of course the whole routine in our home has had to change and my scrapping time has been cut to a few hours when I get home, but hey working means more money to scrap....Heehee!!

Have finished two gorgeous LO's and will be posting them tomorrow. Still need to photograph them. Until then enjoy your weekend. Have fun, no matter what it is you choose to do.

CUTE LAYOUTS FOR THE START OF THE WEEK

I had a good start to the week. My layout "Precious Kids" was chosen as the Pick of the Week over at Colorful Creations. Thank you to all the folk over at Colorful Creations!

The Design Team Challenge at Lets Scrap on Friday was to do a Grandparent page in honor of Grandparents Day On Sunday. I chose to do these photos of my mom with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. While busy with the layout I realised that these are the only photos I have where all the grandchildren and great grandchildren are together with Gran. So they are actually quite special photos!

I have loved these photos since I saw them. Linda gave me a set of them last week and I knew that they would fit Cheri's sketch beautifully. The sketch was the Lets Scrap sketch
8-9-10. Claudia and Dean play so nicely together. When Claudia sees photos of Dean she goes "Deany, Deany". Kerry says these photos are definitely 21 st Birthday story photos.

Thank you for visiting. Enjoy your week and if you have the time, please visit again.

Lazy Day

I have had a lovely day today. Went out early this morning to do the shopping, came home, scrapped for a while and then had friends over for a delicious curry dinner. I love to cook~the reason why I constantly have to watch my weight..LOL. I decided this morning to make a beef curry, so when we got back from shopping I got the curry going on the stove. Friends arrived at about five thirty, we had a glass of wine and then enjoyed a really great meal together.
I absolutely love this LO. COLORFUL CREATIONS sketch #2 challenge. Loved the sketch. I turned it on its side and used these lovely Crate papers that my brother bought for me in Australia. Photo is my daughter Kerry.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you taking the time to visit my blog!!

A Whole Lot of Scrapping

How nice to wake up this morning and have electricity. Yesterday we were without electricity the whole day. It came back on at 16H30. Imagine a whole day without your computer, radio, Slice machine...need I go on!!! Roulien's challenge on Lets Scrap last Friday was to do a LO of Summer Holiday photos, using a Let's Scrap sketch. I struggled with this a bit. My mojo went M.I.A. Nebertheless, I finally finished it and here is the finished product. LO is called "Down by the River". Photos are from our December holiday last year when we were all together at Sundays River.

Finally I got to photograph the pride of my life at the moment. My sweet peas that I have managed to grow. The COLORFUL CREATIONS challenge was to use the words "If I...." in the title or journalling. My title is "If I .....Plant the seeds spring will be beautiful" I enjoyed this LO. Had to think really hard about what to do and how to do the title.

The photos for the last LO today have been in my box of things to do and I just did not know what to do with them. Enter COLORFUL CREATIONS. Challenge ~ World changers. Straight away I knew my photos were at last going to be scrapped. Proves everything comes to those who wait.!!!! The bigger of the two photos is Nelson Mandela's statue in Mandela Square in Sandton. Took Dorian on the Gautrain and could not help myself acting like a tourist ~ just had to snap a photo of the statue. Second photo is when THE GREAT MAN made a surprise appearance at the 2010 football world cup final. Warrick (my son) was at the final and managed to take the photo when Mr Mandela came out on the field.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Have a fun filled weekend, enjoy whatever it is you have planned!!! To all my South African scrapping friends attending the convention ENJOY!!!!!!

More news from Wednesday

My week started off really well when this LO was drawn as the winner for RAK over at SKETCHES4ALL. This was Brenda's challenge and had to be done with autumn colors and she needed us to use at least one flower. I was really brave and made my flower!! How clever am I..LOL. These are photos from my Daughter, Kerry's graduation day. A "proud mom" day indeed. Thank you for visiting my blog. I appreciate it. Have a wonderful day.

Another really cool challenge from COLORFUL CREATIONS. What usually happens is we are given a color scheme to work with. This time around we were allowed to choose our own color scheme. I don't often have photos with Dorian and I together and so these photos just had to be scrapped!! I love the way this LO has turned out.

COLORFUL CREATIONS CHALLENGES

Morning everyone. It feels as if summer has arrived in Johannesburg. We have had amazing weather the last week. This challenge was a really fun one over at COLORFUL CREATIONS. It was a "lucky dip" and my LO had to have stictching somewhere on it. I love this photo of Claudia (my grand daughter) and that always makes it easier to do a lovely LO. Hope yoou enjoyed viewing it as much as I enjoyed doing it!!

TIME TO RELAX

What a hectic few days I have had. It is so good to sit down at the computer and see what everyone has been up to. My dear friends celebrated their forty fifth wedding anniversay this weekend and we spent a really special time with them yesterday. My daughter ended up in hospital on Thursday afternoon and had her appendix removed on Friday. Thankfully she came home today and is now recovering. Today when I went onto Lets Scrap I had such a lovely surprise. They have a new section on their site called EYE CANDY, and my layout "little MISS" was selected by the design team to be the first "eye candy". The "precious kids" layout was for the sketch challenge over at COLOURFUL CREATIONS.

I loved the Lets Scrap sketch 9-1-10. I have had these photos of Dorian for two and a half years and Cheri's sketch was just right for the photos. Anyway, I think it is time to switch off and get myself ready to watch tonights TV movie. Thank you for stopping by.

SPRING DAY

Hi Everyone. Well today is officially Spring Day in South Africa, and my word, what a beautiful day. I am so proud of myself. For the first time ever I have managed to grow sweet peas and our little house is filled with vases of beautiful smelling sweet peas! Shows we are never to old to learn something new. This is the LO I have submitted at Lets Scrap for challenge 65. It was a fun challenge. Requirements were: use yellow, cut your photo in four, and LO must have a butterfly on it. Visit Lets Scrap and have a look at the fun challenges every week. Thanks for visiting. Have a lovely day!
