The last of the Resolutions Completed

YAAAAAYYYY!!! I finished all the resolutions over at the Lets Scrap Hoppy New Year Blog Hop. And did I have loads of fun doing it.
I set off with the intention of not buying anything new by way of scrapping stash and not printing any new pics. Well I did not do too bad at all. I only printed one set of "new " pics and only bought paper for one resolution. So all and all, I am pretty happy with myself. Let me show you the last three resolutions that I completed.

Resolution Number 13

Dawn's challenge was a cardstock only challenge. No patterned paper allowed. Everyone seemed to be embossing their paper - problem is I don't own any type of embossing tool. I put the thinking cap on and remember that somewhere long ago someone had told me about using your stamps with bleach. So I did that on one sheet of pink cardstock and then stamped and used embossing powder on the other. I had photos that I had taken of Claudia ages ago and the pink worked fine. I made my flowers from pink and brown cardstock!! I love the finished product~~~~

Resolution Number 14

What a cool challenge Tracey had worked out. The choice was either a card or a LO using 1 piece of ribbon or lace, 2 patterned papers, 3 flowers and 4 bling.
I don't normally enjoy cards as much as scrap booking and  think it has something to do with working on a smaller scale. Anyway I took a bash at the card and I love it.

Resolution Number 15

The last resolution was hosted by Amy and was a color challenge. The colors were teal, yellow and grey/silver and somewhere on your LO the word "happy" had to be included.
I had previously completed a double page LO with photos of Warrick and Kerry - Kerry claimed it to put in a frame!!!! So I had one of the photos left and it sort of worked with the colors. This is the resolution I ended up buying paper for.

I completed the LO - loaded it in the gallery AND THEN realised I had forgotten poor old "happy"....... So I quickly stamped Happy in the corner and reloaded my LO. Lesson learnt READ THE INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY!!!!!

So that brings my Blog Hop Resolutions to an end!! Best I get stuck into some DT LO's now....hehe. Don't forget that the BLOG HOP only finishes on the 14th February. So you still have plenty of time to visit Lets Scrap and stand a chance of winning some fab prizes.

Well that's it for January - how scary is that!!!

Thanks for taking a look - feel free to leave me a comment please.

Some more completed resolutions!

Well.what fun I have had doing the Blog Hop Resolutions over at Lets Scrap. If you have not been over there to take a look at what is going on ~ you need to visit right now!!! There are loads of prizes to be won whether you are a scrapper or a card maker. Go on over and take a look!!
Here are some more completed resolutions.

Resolution Number 10

Megan set a challenge to use trash from around your house as something on your LO. This was difficult for me, because I use a lot of old stuff to scrap normally, I used the packaging from some Prima flowers to make my photo corner!
My photo is all the cousins taken about sixteen years ago. There are not many photos of all the cousins together. That makes this one quite special!!!

Resolution Number 11

Wendy set a challenge that said use blue, white and silver. My daughter in law has a birthday at the end of February so I made her this birthday card. I am real chuffed at how it turned out. I think Denise will love it!!!!!!!

Challenge number 12

Debby set a challenge that required us to use eyelets. This is not one of my favorite things to do.Anyway I used this card sketch that lent itself to using eyelets and managed to create a half decent card ( well that is what I think anyway!!!!)

So that takes me to challenge 12 ~ three more to go. You will have to visit tomorrow to see my last three reveals.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment, so that I know you have stopped by. Till next time ~ take care and be safe!!!

New Sketch at Frosted Designs

Things are a bit more back to normal at last!!!!!! Frosted Designs has a new sketch for their Sketch Along Tuesday Challenge. A gorgeous sketch that you can do so much with.

I found a whole bunch of photos of my mom when I was going through her stuff last year when she passed away. I have slowly but surely been putting together a heritage album. This is a photo of my mom and two of her sisters taken in the early 1950's. This is how my LO turned out.

The photo is really poor quality so I did not want to put too much on the page in case the photo was over powered. Anyway go on over to Frosted Designs and check out there cool site. They have a Friday challenge every week and a tutorial on A Sunday!!!

Till next time ~ thanks for looking!!!

Time for a New Sketch at Lets Scrap

WOW!! How hectic has my life been over the last week or so!. Sadly my last remaining uncle passed away. He lived in Pietermaritzburg, so we travelled to his funeral on Friday (about 500 kilometres). It was a sad occasion but good to see my cousins again and my one remaining aunt.

It is also time for our puppies to leave and that has also been sad. They are so cute and I just wish that I could keep all of them ~ not going to happen!!! My sweet husband has agreed that I can keep one of them, so I have a new baby called Bella.

There is still so much going on over at Lets Scrap . The blog hop is in full swing and boy oh boy are there some creative people out there!!!! We also still have the Julie Bonner Sketch competition running. Only a few days left to enter that. Then we have our last sketch for January. How scary is that??? The random draw prize that is up for grabs looks like this

This is the cool sketch that we got to work with

I loved working with the sketch. Used some photos I had of Dorian opening his birthday presents. Just check out the absolute delight on that dirty little face.

The pattern papers from Bella Boulevard Super Stud range just fitted in so well with the colors of Dorian's clothes. The star die cuts were all cut with a Slice machine. The rub-ons are from Kaisercraft and the small banner flags are from a sticker sheet from Echo Park. I love the way this turned out.

We have announced the new DT over at Lets Scrap so make sure you don't miss their first reveal next week!

Thanks for looking. Please leave a comment when you visit!!

More Blog Hop Resolutions

Hi all. Things are going a bit rough at the moment on the personal front and so my crafty friends are keeping me going. Thank goodness for the blog hop over at Lets Scrap . It keeps my mind active and helps me to relax. I have completed a few more resolutions!!!

Resolution #6 hosted by Roulien . Roulien has a valentine themed resolution. Go on over to her blog and check it out!! Here is my take on her challenge ~ I so suck at cards - but hey try and you might get lucky!!!

So that is what I came up with!!!!

Resolution # 7 is hosted by Kristie . Kristie wants a LO to include a banner! I have tried not to print any new pics for this blog hop and I had these pics of Warrick and Kerry when they were still real young! Don't have many photos of them when they were small so these are special

How cute are these photos. They are the same age as what the grand babies are now. How scary is that!!!!

I am Resolution #8 ~ so next is Mandy . Mandy has a real fun challenge. It is all about laughing and fun!! My photos are awful ~ but they were such fun!!! Take a look!!!!

How awful are those pics, but I will always remember the funny side!!

So that is where I am at with the blog hop. Please visit Lets Scrap and check out the fun challenges. The hop only finishes off on the 14th February. You still have loads of time!!!

Thanks for looking. Until next time ~ keep safe!!!

Some more Resolutions From the Hoppy New Year Blog Hop

Well are we having loads of fun over at Lets Scrap . Our Blog Hop is HOPPING. The gallery has never been so busy with members loading their "resolutions". If you want to join in the fun you still have loads of time. We have fifteen amazing "resolutions" that you need to complete and you have until the 14th February to do it.

Each Blog host also has a fun RAK to give away, so even if you don't have time to finish all 15 Challenges ~ try your luck on some of the individual ones.

I want to share some of my LO's that I have completed so far. Resolution #3 hosted by Beth . Beth's challenge was to use at least three patterned papers and to include some form of stitching on your LO. This is how mine turned out

My challenge to myself for this Blog Hop was not to print any new photos or buy any new products. So far so good! This is a photo my niece (and God child) Claire sent me of her sweet family. I love the way this LO has turned out.

Resolution #4 hosted by Cori . Cori's challenge was to create a LO that had to have a list on it! I had beautiful photos of my sweet doggy babies. I used a pic of Jorge our little male Pekingese. Here it is!!!

Has he not got the sweetest face????? Gotta love him!!!

Resolution #5 hosted by Carolina . Carolina wanted us to create a LO and not open a new pack of anything. Well I don't think there is a scrapper among us who does not have a load of odds and ends about. So this challenge was real cool. Helped to use up some of the old stash!!! I used pics of my two grandchildren and their little friends who were supposed to be going to sleep Hahaha.

I love this LO. The pics are so cute.....look at those naughty faces!!!!!

Well for now that is it. Be sure to check in again as I work my way through the Resolutions. If you want to join in the fun go on over to Lets Scrap and join us.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time ~ take care.

First Two Resolutions Completed

How exciting ~ our Blog Hop has started over at Lets Scrap and my word is there a lot of activity going on over there. YOU NEED TO GO RIGHT ON OVER AND TAKE A LOOK!!!!!!!

I have looked through all the challenges and boy oh boy there are some real cool "resolutions" to work on. I must admit to something ~ I battle with a mind that tends to wander and is sometimes not very organised ha, so I have decided to do this systematically and work through the challenges in the order that they appear ~ real boring hey!!!! but I will be so confused if I don't!!!!!

My LO for Resolution#1 which is a scrap lift challenge looks like this:

I am trying to go through this Blog Hop without buying anything new and using photos that I already have printed. I had this photo printed in 2007 when my daughter graduated from University. I was at my illest and so don't really like the pic. But I decided to scrap it today!!! Step in the right direction Heehee.

Resolution#2 which is a color challenge looks like this:

This is a photo that I printed to do a LO a while ago and then never got to do it. It is my daughter Kerry with grand daughter Claudia. They are so similar in nature that I sometimes feel sorry for my son, because Kerry has always been so strong willed and my son is going to have to go through the same thing with Claudia.

Well that it for today. Thanks for looking, hop on over to Lets Scrap and JOIN IN THE FUN!!!!!!

Sketch Along Tuesdays 1-11

Hi folks!! Hows your day going? It's a bit warm and muggy here today, but after all the terrible weather being experienced around the world I have promised myself that I will never moan about the weather again. Living in Johannesburg we are truly blessed with fairly good weather. They have predicted heavy rain for the weekend so I guess that means I will have a bit of extra scrapping time!!!!

Today I made a LO for the Tuesday sketch challenge over at Frosted Designs . This is what the sketch looks like

I am using these challenges to get some of my holiday pictures scrapped. This photo was taken at the Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape. We sat and watched the ellies (my Favourite animal in the whole wide world) for a long time and they would not turn around, so I photographed their bottoms....LOL. This is what the LO looks like

In keeping with the African theme I tried to draw an Acacia tree ~ probably won't win a prize for artist of the day, but hey it's an original. No one else has an embellishment that looks anything like it Heehee.

Why not go on over to Frosted Designs and try out some of their awesome challenges. There is also a Friday challenge going on at the moment.

One last reminder that my BLOG CANDY is closing on Saturday. If you haven't signed up for it yet HERE is where you want to go.

Happy crafting. Till next time keep safe and remember to always take some time out of your day to be kind to yourself!!!

Shop Till You Drop

Let me start today by saying that my thoughts and prayers are with all the people affected by the terrible floods in Queensland.

My sweet grandson started grade one today. The grandparents were allowed to go with this morning to be part of  all the excitement. It was so sweet and a bit emotional ~ I can vividly remember his dad's first day at school!! I need to share this with you though because I thought it was so sweet. He said that he doesn't have butterflies in his tummy, he has dragonflies. How cute is that????

Today sees another sketch reveal at Lets Scrap. Today's generous sponsor is:

Cori Kozak, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
www.mycreativechat.com

We held a competition over at Lets Scrap where members were asked to submit their favourite LO ~ which Cheri could turn into a sketch. This week's sketch is based on the LO submitted by Marilyn Peters. Here is the great sketch that Cheri created.

We bought Claudia a shopping trolley with all the grocery tins and boxes. Dorian and Claudia spent the night with us before we went away on holiday and she brought her trolley with. We took all the ornaments off the unit in the lounge and that became her shop. She spent the night shopping and giving us food to eat and dog food.....She also decided her "pappa's" shoes were far smarter to shop in....LOL. I used the photos from that night to do my LO. Here is how it turned out

I used Crate papers and the chipboard die cuts are also from Crate paper. A Martha Stewart punch to do the strip border. I cut the banner out of cardstock and used rub-ons for her name. I used pearls along the punched border.

Before I sign off I want to remind you of a few EXCITING things happening over at Lets Scrap.
  • Our DT CALL closes on 20th January, 2011
  • We have an amazing JULIE BONNER sketch competition going that closes on 31st January, 2011

Most Beautiful Girl

Happy new week!! Today is the day that a lot of people started back at work after the summer holidays. The children who live in my province start back at school on Wednesday. So all in all a busy week ahead.

My grandson starts grade one on Wednesday. His school is so amazing because they are allowing grannies and grandpas to spend the first half an hour of the "first day of school" with the moms, dads and little ones. We will definitely be going along ~ armed with cameras of course.

I scrapped a beautiful LO today using Sketch #38 from Sketchabilities . The photos are of my granddaughter Claudia. They are such amazing pictures. She is so deep in thought ~ would love to know what was going on in her tiny little mind! I changed the photos to black and white and used My Minds Eye papers that I have had for a while. This is how my LO turned out.

I used plain ivory flowers and added some stickles and Kaisercraft pearls as flower centres. The corner rub-on is also from Kaisercraft. Border punch is Martha Stewart.

The Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs was to use three or more photos, so I am entering this LO into that challenge as well.

Thank you for looking. Have a wonderful week.

Friends

I am slowly but surely managing to get myself back into the routine of things! Today saw me complete LO's for a few challenges. I also had to sort my house out, after a night of "camping" with our two grandchildren. They slept over and we live in a tiny place, but they wanted a tent. So, reshuffle furniture in bedroom, take blanket and make tent ~ voila!!!!! two happy grand babies. We did have a load of fun and it was all worth it.

The sketch for 28th December's Sketch Along Tuesday challenge over at Frosted Designs was such a nice sketch ~ easy to fit to any theme. This is what the sketch looks like.

I kept my LO very simple ~ but I was brave ~ used some background flower paper even though it is a LO of two little boys. But it worked for me and I am well pleased with the way it has turned out. Pics are of my grands son Dorian and his friend Cole on Christmas day.

You need to hurry on over to Frosted Designs now as this challenge closes on Tuesday.

Don't forget to sign up for my BLOG CANDY HERE. Only one week left before I draw the lucky winner!!!!

Wishing you all a good week and thanks for looking!

Back to Reality

Well an amazing summer holiday has come to an end, and we are home safe and sound. A twelve hour road trip with two dogs and four six week old puppies was a bit exhausting ~ but we have all survived relatively unscathed!

I am once again a bit late in posting last weeks challenge from over at Lets Scrap but from now on I should be a bit more organised.

The prize offered this week is from

This is the lovely sketch that Cheri prepared for us.

I used these gorgeous photos of my daughter Kerry and her friends Sam and Alex. They found this awesome cocktail bar in Port Elizabeth (where we were holidaying), where they served the cocktails in teapots and jamjars. The teapot cocktails were all iced tea based and the jamjars were white rum based. I loved the photos ~ good fun was had by all!!!!! Here is my LO.

I have a huge amount of scrapping work to do, to try and get myself up to date. We are organising an exciting blog hop over at Lets Scrap. It starts on 14th January, 2011 and runs through to 14th February, 2011. Why not go on over and get some more details. There will be loads of wonderful challenges, awesome prizes and a chance to meet up with a whole lot of new scrapping friends!.

Also want to remind you to sign up for my BLOG CANDY HERE. I will be doing the draw on the 16th January, 2011.

Thanks for the visit. Have a good weekend.

Last sketch of the year at Lets Scrap

Hi everyone. I have been MIA for a while because our holiday has gone through a really hectic period. Our friends arrived from Johannesburg just after Christmas and so we have spent loads of time taking them around and showing them all there is to see down here in the Eastern Cape.

The highlight for me was a trip up into the mountains to visit a tiny village called Hogsback. It was AMAZING. We camped out - the first day was so hot that I was exhausted by nightfall. The second day we awoke to dense mist and a beautiful soft rain. Only bad bit was we had to pack up tents and all in rain. I had loads of fun as I don't mind he soft rain. Will definitely head back there when we get a chance.

To scrapping matters though. I am way late in posting last weeks sketch challenge from Lets Scrap. The prize was sponsored by the awesome folk over at
Cheri once again provided a wonderful sketch to work with.

I used photos of Claudia from when she was just learning to crawl. I have a huge amount of baby photos I still need to scrap, but the older the grandchildren get, the cuter they get, so I have fallen way behind with the baby pics! Here is my take on the sketch

Here are a few close ups

Why not take a look over at Lets Scrap and see what the other DT members have come up with.

Just a reminder to take a look at my blog candy HERE. I will be making the random draw on the 16th January.

Enjoy the rest of your day. I have a few more days of holiday left and will then be heading back to Johannesburg. Thanks for looking.

Hugs
Bev
